12/03/08 ~ 6.0 miles ~ I ran outside today in the beautiful Brightwaters area by the water.
12/08/08 ~ 4.5 miles~ Ran on treadmill at Planet Fitness and forgot iPod and headphones.
12/11/08 ~ 4.0 miles ~ Ran on treadmill at the gym.
12/22/08 ~ 5.2 miles ~ After a week off, I’m back! Treadmill today, it’s freezing out!
12/29/08 ~ 1.5 miles ~ Oh boy, I am in a rut! I am also having a lot of foot pain (top of foot) and am making appt. at the podiatrist. Wish me luck! I need to get back up and running for real.
1/05/09 ~ 5.0 miles~ I ran at the gym on the treadmill. There are lots of new faces at the gym! Good energy though. After my appt. at the podiatrist (he took x-rays) I got the diagnosis of tendonitis (inflammation). I am leery to take the anti-inflammation medication and would like to reduce my inflammation from a more natural source (food etc.). I was in a bit of pain today running so I stopped and walked for a bit today. I am going to work on stretching my foot and will probably start icing it as well.
1/05/09 ~ I haven’t worked out yet today but I think I went too hard yesterday. After doing much reading, I think that I may have a stress fracture, but I am not sure yet. Walking is painful. I am not happy! I plan on icing it tonight and picking up the evil anti-inflammatory prescription, just to see if it works. I plan on using the bicycle at the gym. The good new is that this will give me a chance to finally really start working on my upper body strength! Wish me luck!
1/17/09~ I did an hour on the bicycle at the gym today. My foot still hurts.
1/18/09~ I did 2 miles on the treadmill at 4.0 mph (walking) and then went to the bicycle and rode at Level 6 for 30 min. I hope that I can start running again soon.
1/19/09~ I biked for a half hour at the gym and then walked on the treadmill for a while. I’m hoping to start running again soon.
1/26/09~ I finally got back on the treadmill and ran at 5.0 mph for 2 miles. I think I am back in the running game.
3/3/09 ~ Wow, I am still recovering from my injury. I did run 4.o miles today at the gym. It’s hard to build the milage up again.
3/4/09~ Today I walked on the treadmill for 4.0 miles. I really must add some more pilates and yoga to my days.

3/8/09~ 4.75 miles on the treadmill. I’m finally starting to feel normal again!

4/1/09~I finally got the Strassburg sock which is a special sock that helps in stretching out your plantar fascitis while you sleep or rest. I wore mine for about 40 minutes today. I do need to do some more research about this, but I can see that it is helping!
4/4/09~Harry and I ran the Nationwide Insurance 10k run today in Plainview, NY. I ran it in 57 minutes. Not a bad time for me. Unfortunately for me, I listed myself as a male and am lumped into the other boy runners for my time.
4/20/09~After aggravating my plantar fascitis from the abovementioned race, I am back running again. 5 miles felt good. I also got some insoles for my sneaks and think that they work!
6/21/09~ I have been running this whole time just being lazy and not posting it. Today, Harry and I did a massive run from Bay Shore to Patchogue (approximately 14 miles) to pick his car up from the bar. We walked for about 2 miles of it. I feel great, surprisingly!
10/14/09~ OK, so it looks really bad for my running but I just have not been posting about it. Ran 5.2 miles today, from my house to Marshall’s to check out if they they have any Le Creuset (they did) to replace the one I somehow lost in my move (how the heaviest thing I own goes missing, I don’t know) and back home.
10/15/09~ It is pouring here in NY and I don’t have a gym membership or treadmill. I may pop an exercise video in. We’ll see.

Hey Nancy, I just posted about your recipe and had to read your bio. My mother and grandmothers were also great cooks/bakers. I just ran my first 1/2 marathon! If you are still having plantar fasciitis , here are a couple of helpful hints. Put a plastic water bottle in the freezer and use it as a “roller” under your foot. A tennis ball is also good, but the cold is really great.
